1 Now Dinah the daughter of Leah, whom she had borne to Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.
Εξῆλθεν-δὲ-Δινα-η-θυγάτηρ-Λειας-,-ὴν-έτεκεν-τῶ-Ιακωβ-,-καταμαθεῖν-τὰς-θυγατέρας-τῶν-εγχωρίων-.-
2 And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her and lay with her, and violated her.
καὶ-εῖδεν-αυτὴν-Συχεμ-ο-υιὸς-Εμμωρ-ο-Χορραῖος-ο-άρχων-τῆς-γῆς-καὶ-λαβὼν-αυτὴν-εκοιμήθη-μετ᾿-αυτῆς-καὶ-εταπείνωσεν-αυτήν-.-
3 His soul was strongly attracted to Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the young woman and spoke kindly to the young woman.
καὶ-προσέσχεν-τῆ-ψυχῆ-Δινας-τῆς-θυγατρὸς-Ιακωβ-καὶ-ηγάπησεν-τὴν-παρθένον-καὶ-ελάλησεν-κατὰ-τὴν-διάνοιαν-τῆς-παρθένου-αυτῆ-.-
4 So Shechem spoke to his father Hamor, saying, “Get me this young woman as a wife.”
εῖπεν-δὲ-Συχεμ-πρὸς-Εμμωρ-τὸν-πατέρα-αυτοῦ-λέγων-Λαβέ-μοι-τὴν-παιδίσκην-ταύτην-εις-γυναῖκα-.-
5 And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter. Now his sons were with his livestock in the field; so Jacob held his peace until they came.
Ιακωβ-δὲ-ήκουσεν-ότι-εμίανεν-ο-υιὸς-Εμμωρ-Διναν-τὴν-θυγατέρα-αυτοῦ-·-οι-δὲ-υιοὶ-αυτοῦ-ῆσαν-μετὰ-τῶν-κτηνῶν-αυτοῦ-εν-τῶ-πεδίω-,-παρεσιώπησεν-δὲ-Ιακωβ-έως-τοῦ-ελθεῖν-αυτούς-.-
6 Then Hamor the father of Shechem went out to Jacob to speak with him.
εξῆλθεν-δὲ-Εμμωρ-ο-πατὴρ-Συχεμ-πρὸς-Ιακωβ-λαλῆσαι-αυτῶ-.-
7 And the sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard it; and the men were grieved and very angry, because he had done a disgraceful thing in Israel by lying with Jacob’s daughter, a thing which ought not to be done.
οι-δὲ-υιοὶ-Ιακωβ-ῆλθον-εκ-τοῦ-πεδίου-·-ως-δὲ-ήκουσαν-,-κατενύχθησαν-οι-άνδρες-,-καὶ-λυπηρὸν-ῆν-αυτοῖς-σφόδρα-ότι-άσχημον-εποίησεν-εν-Ισραηλ-κοιμηθεὶς-μετὰ-τῆς-θυγατρὸς-Ιακωβ-,-καὶ-ουχ-ούτως-έσται-.-
8 But Hamor spoke with them, saying, “The soul of my son Shechem longs for your daughter. Please give her to him as a wife.
καὶ-ελάλησεν-Εμμωρ-αυτοῖς-λέγων-Συχεμ-ο-υιός-μου-προείλατο-τῆ-ψυχῆ-τὴν-θυγατέρα-υμῶν-·-δότε-οῦν-αυτὴν-αυτῶ-γυναῖκα-.-
9 And make marriages with us; give your daughters to us, and take our daughters to yourselves.
επιγαμβρεύσασθε-ημῖν-·-τὰς-θυγατέρας-υμῶν-δότε-ημῖν-καὶ-τὰς-θυγατέρας-ημῶν-λάβετε-τοῖς-υιοῖς-υμῶν-.-
10 So you shall dwell with us, and the land shall be before you. Dwell and trade in it, and acquire possessions for yourselves in it.”
καὶ-εν-ημῖν-κατοικεῖτε-,-καὶ-η-γῆ-ιδοὺ-πλατεῖα-εναντίον-υμῶν-·-κατοικεῖτε-καὶ-εμπορεύεσθε-επ᾿-αυτῆς-καὶ-εγκτήσασθε-εν-αυτῆ-.-
11 Then Shechem said to her father and her brothers, “Let me find favor in your eyes, and whatever you say to me I will give.
εῖπεν-δὲ-Συχεμ-πρὸς-τὸν-πατέρα-αυτῆς-καὶ-πρὸς-τοὺς-αδελφοὺς-αυτῆς-Εύροιμι-χάριν-εναντίον-υμῶν-,-καὶ-ὸ-εὰν-είπητε-,-δώσομεν-.-
12 Ask me ever so much dowry and gift, and I will give according to what you say to me; but give me the young woman as a wife.”
πληθύνατε-τὴν-φερνὴν-σφόδρα-,-καὶ-δώσω-,-καθότι-ὰν-είπητέ-μοι-,-καὶ-δώσετέ-μοι-τὴν-παῖδα-ταύτην-εις-γυναῖκα-.-
13 But the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father, and spoke deceitfully, because he had defiled Dinah their sister.
απεκρίθησαν-δὲ-οι-υιοὶ-Ιακωβ-τῶ-Συχεμ-καὶ-Εμμωρ-τῶ-πατρὶ-αυτοῦ-μετὰ-δόλου-καὶ-ελάλησαν-αυτοῖς-,-ότι-εμίαναν-Διναν-τὴν-αδελφὴν-αυτῶν-,-
14 And they said to them, “We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised, for that would be a reproach to us.
καὶ-εῖπαν-αυτοῖς-Συμεων-καὶ-Λευι-οι-αδελφοὶ-Δινας-υιοὶ-δὲ-Λειας-Ου-δυνησόμεθα-ποιῆσαι-τὸ-ρῆμα-τοῦτο-,-δοῦναι-τὴν-αδελφὴν-ημῶν-ανθρώπω-,-ὸς-έχει-ακροβυστίαν-·-έστιν-γὰρ-όνειδος-ημῖν-.-
15 But on this condition we will consent to you: If you will become as we are, if every male of you is circumcised,
εν-τούτω-ομοιωθησόμεθα-υμῖν-καὶ-κατοικήσομεν-εν-υμῖν-,-εὰν-γένησθε-ως-ημεῖς-καὶ-υμεῖς-εν-τῶ-περιτμηθῆναι-υμῶν-πᾶν-αρσενικόν-,-
16 then we will give our daughters to you, and we will take your daughters to us; and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people.
καὶ-δώσομεν-τὰς-θυγατέρας-ημῶν-υμῖν-καὶ-απὸ-τῶν-θυγατέρων-υμῶν-λημψόμεθα-ημῖν-γυναῖκας-καὶ-οικήσομεν-παρ᾿-υμῖν-καὶ-εσόμεθα-ως-γένος-έν-.-
17 But if you will not heed us and be circumcised, then we will take our daughter and be gone.”
εὰν-δὲ-μὴ-εισακούσητε-ημῶν-τοῦ-περιτέμνεσθαι-,-λαβόντες-τὰς-θυγατέρας-ημῶν-απελευσόμεθα-.-
18 And their words pleased Hamor and Shechem, Hamor’s son.
καὶ-ήρεσαν-οι-λόγοι-εναντίον-Εμμωρ-καὶ-εναντίον-Συχεμ-τοῦ-υιοῦ-Εμμωρ-.-
19 So the young man did not delay to do the thing, because he delighted in Jacob’s daughter. He was more honorable than all the household of his father.
καὶ-ουκ-εχρόνισεν-ο-νεανίσκος-τοῦ-ποιῆσαι-τὸ-ρῆμα-τοῦτο-·-ενέκειτο-γὰρ-τῆ-θυγατρὶ-Ιακωβ-·-αυτὸς-δὲ-ῆν-ενδοξότατος-πάντων-τῶν-εν-τῶ-οίκω-τοῦ-πατρὸς-αυτοῦ-.-
20 And Hamor and Shechem his son came to the gate of their city, and spoke with the men of their city, saying:
ῆλθεν-δὲ-Εμμωρ-καὶ-Συχεμ-ο-υιὸς-αυτοῦ-πρὸς-τὴν-πύλην-τῆς-πόλεως-αυτῶν-καὶ-ελάλησαν-πρὸς-τοὺς-άνδρας-τῆς-πόλεως-αυτῶν-λέγοντες-
21 “These men are at peace with us. Therefore let them dwell in the land and trade in it. For indeed the land is large enough for them. Let us take their daughters to us as wives, and let us give them our daughters.
Οι-άνθρωποι-οῦτοι-ειρηνικοί-εισιν-μεθ᾿-ημῶν-·-οικείτωσαν-επὶ-τῆς-γῆς-καὶ-εμπορευέσθωσαν-αυτήν-,-η-δὲ-γῆ-ιδοὺ-πλατεῖα-εναντίον-αυτῶν-.-τὰς-θυγατέρας-αυτῶν-λημψόμεθα-ημῖν-γυναῖκας-καὶ-τὰς-θυγατέρας-ημῶν-δώσομεν-αυτοῖς-.-
22 Only on this condition will the men consent to dwell with us, to be one people: if every male among us is circumcised as they are circumcised.
μόνον-εν-τούτω-ομοιωθήσονται-ημῖν-οι-άνθρωποι-τοῦ-κατοικεῖν-μεθ᾿-ημῶν-ώστε-εῖναι-λαὸν-ένα-,-εν-τῶ-περιτέμνεσθαι-ημῶν-πᾶν-αρσενικόν-,-καθὰ-καὶ-αυτοὶ-περιτέτμηνται-.-
23 Will not their livestock, their property, and every animal of theirs be ours? Only let us consent to them, and they will dwell with us.”
καὶ-τὰ-κτήνη-αυτῶν-καὶ-τὰ-υπάρχοντα-αυτῶν-καὶ-τὰ-τετράποδα-ουχ-ημῶν-έσται-;-μόνον-εν-τούτω-ομοιωθῶμεν-αυτοῖς-,-καὶ-οικήσουσιν-μεθ᾿-ημῶν-.-
24 And all who went out of the gate of his city heeded Hamor and Shechem his son; every male was circumcised, all who went out of the gate of his city.
καὶ-εισήκουσαν-Εμμωρ-καὶ-Συχεμ-τοῦ-υιοῦ-αυτοῦ-πάντες-οι-εκπορευόμενοι-τὴν-πύλην-τῆς-πόλεως-αυτῶν-καὶ-περιετέμοντο-τὴν-σάρκα-τῆς-ακροβυστίας-αυτῶν-,-πᾶς-άρσην-.-
25 Now it came to pass on the third day, when they were in pain, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, each took his sword and came boldly upon the city and killed all the males.
εγένετο-δὲ-εν-τῆ-ημέρα-τῆ-τρίτη-,-ότε-ῆσαν-εν-τῶ-πόνω-,-έλαβον-οι-δύο-υιοὶ-Ιακωβ-Συμεων-καὶ-Λευι-οι-αδελφοὶ-Δινας-έκαστος-τὴν-μάχαιραν-αυτοῦ-καὶ-εισῆλθον-εις-τὴν-πόλιν-ασφαλῶς-καὶ-απέκτειναν-πᾶν-αρσενικόν-·-
26 And they killed Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah from Shechem’s house, and went out.
τόν-τε-Εμμωρ-καὶ-Συχεμ-τὸν-υιὸν-αυτοῦ-απέκτειναν-εν-στόματι-μαχαίρας-καὶ-έλαβον-τὴν-Διναν-εκ-τοῦ-οίκου-τοῦ-Συχεμ-καὶ-εξῆλθον-.-
27 The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and plundered the city, because their sister had been defiled.
οι-δὲ-υιοὶ-Ιακωβ-εισῆλθον-επὶ-τοὺς-τραυματίας-καὶ-διήρπασαν-τὴν-πόλιν-,-εν-ῆ-εμίαναν-Διναν-τὴν-αδελφὴν-αυτῶν-,-
28 They took their sheep, their oxen, and their donkeys, what was in the city and what was in the field,
καὶ-τὰ-πρόβατα-αυτῶν-καὶ-τοὺς-βόας-αυτῶν-καὶ-τοὺς-όνους-αυτῶν-,-όσα-τε-ῆν-εν-τῆ-πόλει-καὶ-όσα-ῆν-εν-τῶ-πεδίω-,-έλαβον-.-
29 and all their wealth. All their little ones and their wives they took captive; and they plundered even all that was in the houses.
καὶ-πάντα-τὰ-σώματα-αυτῶν-καὶ-πᾶσαν-τὴν-αποσκευὴν-αυτῶν-καὶ-τὰς-γυναῖκας-αυτῶν-ηχμαλώτευσαν-,-καὶ-διήρπασαν-όσα-τε-ῆν-εν-τῆ-πόλει-καὶ-όσα-ῆν-εν-ταῖς-οικίαις-.-
30 Then Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, “You have troubled me by making me obnoxious among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites; and since I am few in number, they will gather themselves together against me and kill me. I shall be destroyed, my household and I.”
εῖπεν-δὲ-Ιακωβ-Συμεων-καὶ-Λευι-Μισητόν-με-πεποιήκατε-ώστε-πονηρόν-με-εῖναι-πᾶσιν-τοῖς-κατοικοῦσιν-τὴν-γῆν-,-έν-τε-τοῖς-Χαναναίοις-καὶ-τοῖς-Φερεζαίοις-·-εγὼ-δὲ-ολιγοστός-ειμι-εν-αριθμῶ-,-καὶ-συναχθέντες-επ᾿-εμὲ-συγκόψουσίν-με-,-καὶ-εκτριβήσομαι-εγὼ-καὶ-ο-οῖκός-μου-.-
31 But they said, “Should he treat our sister like a harlot?”
οι-δὲ-εῖπαν-Αλλ᾿-ωσεὶ-πόρνη-χρήσωνται-τῆ-αδελφῆ-ημῶν-;-
