1 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
Η͂ν-δὲ-άνθρωπος-εκ-τῶν-Φαρισαίων-,-Νικόδημος-όνομα-αυτῶ-,-άρχων-τῶν-Ιουδαίων-·-
2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”
οῦτος-ῆλθεν-πρὸς-αυτὸν-νυκτὸς-καὶ-εῖπεν-αυτῶ-,-Ραββί-,-οίδαμεν-ότι-απὸ-θεοῦ-ελήλυθας-διδάσκαλος-·-ουδεὶς-γὰρ-δύναται-ταῦτα-τὰ-σημεῖα-ποιεῖν-ὰ-σὺ-ποιεῖς-,-εὰν-μὴ-ῆ-ο-θεὸς-μετ᾿-αυτοῦ-.-
3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
απεκρίθη-Ιησοῦς-καὶ-εῖπεν-αυτῶ-,-Αμὴν-αμὴν-λέγω-σοι-,-εὰν-μή-τις-γεννηθῆ-άνωθεν-,-ου-δύναται-ιδεῖν-τὴν-βασιλείαν-τοῦ-θεοῦ-.-
4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”
λέγει-πρὸς-αυτὸν-[-ο-]-Νικόδημος-,-Πῶς-δύναται-άνθρωπος-γεννηθῆναι-γέρων-ών-;-μὴ-δύναται-εις-τὴν-κοιλίαν-τῆς-μητρὸς-αυτοῦ-δεύτερον-εισελθεῖν-καὶ-γεννηθῆναι-;-
5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
απεκρίθη-Ιησοῦς-,-Αμὴν-αμὴν-λέγω-σοι-,-εὰν-μή-τις-γεννηθῆ-εξ-ύδατος-καὶ-πνεύματος-,-ου-δύναται-εισελθεῖν-εις-τὴν-βασιλείαν-τοῦ-θεοῦ-.-
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
τὸ-γεγεννημένον-εκ-τῆς-σαρκὸς-σάρξ-εστιν-,-καὶ-τὸ-γεγεννημένον-εκ-τοῦ-πνεύματος-πνεῦμά-εστιν-.-
7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’
μὴ-θαυμάσης-ότι-εῖπόν-σοι-,-Δεῖ-υμᾶς-γεννηθῆναι-άνωθεν-.-
8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
τὸ-πνεῦμα-όπου-θέλει-πνεῖ-,-καὶ-τὴν-φωνὴν-αυτοῦ-ακούεις-,-αλλ᾿-ουκ-οῖδας-πόθεν-έρχεται-καὶ-ποῦ-υπάγει-·-ούτως-εστὶν-πᾶς-ο-γεγεννημένος-εκ-τοῦ-πνεύματος-.-
9 Nicodemus answered and said to Him, “How can these things be?”
απεκρίθη-Νικόδημος-καὶ-εῖπεν-αυτῶ-,-Πῶς-δύναται-ταῦτα-γενέσθαι-;-
10 Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things?
απεκρίθη-Ιησοῦς-καὶ-εῖπεν-αυτῶ-,-Σὺ-εῖ-ο-διδάσκαλος-τοῦ-Ισραὴλ-καὶ-ταῦτα-ου-γινώσκεις-;-
11 Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness.
αμὴν-αμὴν-λέγω-σοι-ότι-ὸ-οίδαμεν-λαλοῦμεν-καὶ-ὸ-εωράκαμεν-μαρτυροῦμεν-,-καὶ-τὴν-μαρτυρίαν-ημῶν-ου-λαμβάνετε-.-
12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?
ει-τὰ-επίγεια-εῖπον-υμῖν-καὶ-ου-πιστεύετε-,-πῶς-εὰν-είπω-υμῖν-τὰ-επουράνια-πιστεύσετε-;-
13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.
καὶ-ουδεὶς-αναβέβηκεν-εις-τὸν-ουρανὸν-ει-μὴ-ο-εκ-τοῦ-ουρανοῦ-καταβάς-,-ο-υιὸς-τοῦ-ανθρώπου-.-
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
καὶ-καθὼς-Μωυσῆς-ύψωσεν-τὸν-όφιν-εν-τῆ-ερήμω-,-ούτως-υψωθῆναι-δεῖ-τὸν-υιὸν-τοῦ-ανθρώπου-,-
15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
ίνα-πᾶς-ο-πιστεύων-εν-αυτῶ-έχη-ζωὴν-αιώνιον-.-
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Ούτως-γὰρ-ηγάπησεν-ο-θεὸς-τὸν-κόσμον-,-ώστε-τὸν-υιὸν-τὸν-μονογενῆ-έδωκεν-,-ίνα-πᾶς-ο-πιστεύων-εις-αυτὸν-μὴ-απόληται-αλλ᾿-έχη-ζωὴν-αιώνιον-.-
17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
ου-γὰρ-απέστειλεν-ο-θεὸς-τὸν-υιὸν-εις-τὸν-κόσμον-ίνα-κρίνη-τὸν-κόσμον-,-αλλ᾿-ίνα-σωθῆ-ο-κόσμος-δι᾿-αυτοῦ-.-
18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
ο-πιστεύων-εις-αυτὸν-ου-κρίνεται-·-ο-[-δὲ-]-μὴ-πιστεύων-ήδη-κέκριται-,-ότι-μὴ-πεπίστευκεν-εις-τὸ-όνομα-τοῦ-μονογενοῦς-υιοῦ-τοῦ-θεοῦ-.-
19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
αύτη-δέ-εστιν-η-κρίσις-,-ότι-τὸ-φῶς-ελήλυθεν-εις-τὸν-κόσμον-καὶ-ηγάπησαν-οι-άνθρωποι-μᾶλλον-τὸ-σκότος-ὴ-τὸ-φῶς-,-ῆν-γὰρ-αυτῶν-πονηρὰ-τὰ-έργα-.-
20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.
πᾶς-γὰρ-ο-φαῦλα-πράσσων-μισεῖ-τὸ-φῶς-καὶ-ουκ-έρχεται-πρὸς-τὸ-φῶς-,-ίνα-μὴ-ελεγχθῆ-τὰ-έργα-αυτοῦ-·-
21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”
ο-δὲ-ποιῶν-τὴν-αλήθειαν-έρχεται-πρὸς-τὸ-φῶς-,-ίνα-φανερωθῆ-αυτοῦ-τὰ-έργα-ότι-εν-θεῶ-εστιν-ειργασμένα-.-
22 After these things Jesus and His disciples came into the land of Judea, and there He remained with them and baptized.
Μετὰ-ταῦτα-ῆλθεν-ο-Ιησοῦς-καὶ-οι-μαθηταὶ-αυτοῦ-εις-τὴν-Ιουδαίαν-γῆν-,-καὶ-εκεῖ-διέτριβεν-μετ᾿-αυτῶν-καὶ-εβάπτιζεν-.-
23 Now John also was baptizing in Aenon near Salim, because there was much water there. And they came and were baptized.
ῆν-δὲ-καὶ-ο-Ιωάννης-βαπτίζων-εν-Αινὼν-εγγὺς-τοῦ-Σαλείμ-,-ότι-ύδατα-πολλὰ-ῆν-εκεῖ-,-καὶ-παρεγίνοντο-καὶ-εβαπτίζοντο-·-
24 For John had not yet been thrown into prison.
ούπω-γὰρ-ῆν-βεβλημένος-εις-τὴν-φυλακὴν-ο-Ιωάννης-.-
25 Then there arose a dispute between some of John’s disciples and the Jews about purification.
Εγένετο-οῦν-ζήτησις-εκ-τῶν-μαθητῶν-Ιωάννου-μετὰ-Ιουδαίου-περὶ-καθαρισμοῦ-.-
26 And they came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified—behold, He is baptizing, and all are coming to Him!”
καὶ-ῆλθον-πρὸς-τὸν-Ιωάννην-καὶ-εῖπαν-αυτῶ-,-Ραββί-,-ὸς-ῆν-μετὰ-σοῦ-πέραν-τοῦ-Ιορδάνου-,-ῶ-σὺ-μεμαρτύρηκας-,-ίδε-οῦτος-βαπτίζει-καὶ-πάντες-έρχονται-πρὸς-αυτόν-.-
27 John answered and said, “A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven.
απεκρίθη-Ιωάννης-καὶ-εῖπεν-,-Ου-δύναται-άνθρωπος-λαμβάνειν-ουδὲ-ὲν-εὰν-μὴ-ῆ-δεδομένον-αυτῶ-εκ-τοῦ-ουρανοῦ-.-
28 You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, ‘I am not the Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent before Him.’
αυτοὶ-υμεῖς-μοι-μαρτυρεῖτε-ότι-εῖπον-[-ότι-]-Ουκ-ειμὶ-εγὼ-ο-Χριστός-,-αλλ᾿-ότι-Απεσταλμένος-ειμὶ-έμπροσθεν-εκείνου-.-
29 He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is fulfilled.
ο-έχων-τὴν-νύμφην-νυμφίος-εστίν-·-ο-δὲ-φίλος-τοῦ-νυμφίου-,-ο-εστηκὼς-καὶ-ακούων-αυτοῦ-,-χαρᾶ-χαίρει-διὰ-τὴν-φωνὴν-τοῦ-νυμφίου-.-αύτη-οῦν-η-χαρὰ-η-εμὴ-πεπλήρωται-.-
30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
εκεῖνον-δεῖ-αυξάνειν-,-εμὲ-δὲ-ελαττοῦσθαι-.-
31 He who comes from above is above all; he who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all.
Ο-άνωθεν-ερχόμενος-επάνω-πάντων-εστίν-·-ο-ὼν-εκ-τῆς-γῆς-εκ-τῆς-γῆς-εστιν-καὶ-εκ-τῆς-γῆς-λαλεῖ-.-ο-εκ-τοῦ-ουρανοῦ-ερχόμενος-[-επάνω-πάντων-εστίν-·]-
32 And what He has seen and heard, that He testifies; and no one receives His testimony.
ὸ-εώρακεν-καὶ-ήκουσεν-τοῦτο-μαρτυρεῖ-,-καὶ-τὴν-μαρτυρίαν-αυτοῦ-ουδεὶς-λαμβάνει-.-
33 He who has received His testimony has certified that God is true.
ο-λαβὼν-αυτοῦ-τὴν-μαρτυρίαν-εσφράγισεν-ότι-ο-θεὸς-αληθής-εστιν-.-
34 For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.
ὸν-γὰρ-απέστειλεν-ο-θεὸς-τὰ-ρήματα-τοῦ-θεοῦ-λαλεῖ-,-ου-γὰρ-εκ-μέτρου-δίδωσιν-τὸ-πνεῦμα-.-
35 The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand.
ο-πατὴρ-αγαπᾶ-τὸν-υιόν-,-καὶ-πάντα-δέδωκεν-εν-τῆ-χειρὶ-αυτοῦ-.-
36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”
ο-πιστεύων-εις-τὸν-υιὸν-έχει-ζωὴν-αιώνιον-·-ο-δὲ-απειθῶν-τῶ-υιῶ-ουκ-όψεται-ζωήν-,-αλλ᾿-η-οργὴ-τοῦ-θεοῦ-μένει-επ᾿-αυτόν-.-
