Although God created man in His own image:
“So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them” (Gen. 1:27)
Nevertheless, this does not mean that God outwardly resembles a human being. It does not mean that God has hands, feet, eyes, ears, and so on:
“Do you have eyes of flesh? Do you see as humans see? Are your days like the days of mortals, or your years like human years” (Job. 10:4-5)
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Is. 55:8-9)
“God is not a human being, that he should lie, or a mortal, that he should change his mind. Has he promised, and will he not do it? Has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” (Num. 23:19)
Man consists of flesh, soul, and spirit. But God does not consist of flesh. God is spirit:
“God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”” (John. 4:24)
God does not consist of matter at all, because He exists even before the creation of the world and matter:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. <...> All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being” (John. 1:1,3)
This speaks about the nature of God. Yes, God became man (not merely resembling a man, but a true man), and from that time we can speak of Him as a man as well. However, by becoming man, God did not cease to be what He was before — God. It is about the nature of God that we are speaking here.
