  4. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled” (Matt. 5:6; Luke. 6:21; Luke. 6:25)

  5. “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy” (Matt. 5:7; Luke. 6:24)

  6. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” (Matt. 5:8)

  7. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God” (Matt. 5:9)

  8. “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matt. 5:10; Luke. 6:22)

  9. “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you” (Matt. 5:11-12; Luke. 6:22-23; Luke. 6:26)

Additional Commandments

  1. “love your enemies” (Luke. 6:27; Matt. 5:44)

  2. “do good to those who hate you” (Luke. 6:27; Matt. 5:44)

  3. “bless those who curse you” (Luke. 6:28; Matt. 5:44)

  4. “pray for those who spitefully use you” (Luke. 6:28; Matt. 5:44)

  5. “To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also” (Luke. 6:29)

  6. “from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either” (Luke. 6:29; Matt. 5:40)

  7. “Give to everyone who asks of you” (Luke. 6:30; Luke. 6:38; Matt. 5:42)

  8. “from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back” (Luke. 6:30)

  9. “just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise” (Luke. 6:31)

  10. “Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful” (Luke. 6:36)

  11. “Judge not, and you shall not be judged” (Luke. 6:37)

  12. “Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned” (Luke. 6:37)

  13. “Forgive, and you will be forgiven” (Luke. 6:37)

  14. “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you” (Luke. 6:38)

  15. “And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck that is in your brother’s eye” (Luke. 6:41-42)

  16. “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’ But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire” (Matt. 5:21-22)

  17. “Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, the judge hand you over to the officer, and you be thrown into prison. Assuredly, I say to you, you will by no means get out of there till you have paid the last penny” (Matt. 5:23-26)

  18. “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart” (Matt. 5:27-28)

  19. “Furthermore it has been said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’ But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except sexual immorality causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultery” (Matt. 5:31-32)

  20. “Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.’ But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God’s throne; nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one” (Matt. 5:33-37)

  21. “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also. And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away” (Matt. 5:38-42)

  22. “Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect” (Matt. 5:48)
