False Christs

On those people who pass themselves off as Christ

Preface

The Lord Jesus Christ was born more than 2000 years ago of the most pure Virgin Mary (without a husband), in accordance with the words of the ancient prophets. He possessed great wisdom already in boyhood (at 12 years of age), amazing the teachers in the Jerusalem Temple. Until the age of 30 Jesus Christ was in obedience to Joseph and did ordinary work, and at 30 He went out to preach. More about this period: Christ — Life in Palestine.

Then the Lord Jesus Christ preached, instructed His disciples (the apostles), was betrayed, suffered on the Cross, rose on the third day, appeared to His followers for 40 days, teaching them about the Kingdom of Heaven, and then ascended into heaven, sat down at the right hand of God and promised to return a second time in the same way as He ascended, in order to judge the whole universe. And 10 days later (on the 50th day after the resurrection) He created His Church and sent the Holy Spirit to her forever.

On False Christs

Deceivers

The Lord Jesus Christ Himself warned that deceivers would come, passing themselves off as Him, and many people would believe these deceivers:

“Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, ‘Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?’ And Jesus answered and said to them: ‘Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, “I am the Christ,” and will deceive many’” (Matt. 24:3-5)

On the Coming of Christ

The Coming Will Be Like Lightning

However, the Second Coming of Christ will instantly be known to everyone throughout the world, like a flash of lightning:

“And they will say to you, ‘Look here!’ or ‘Look there!’ Do not go after them or follow them. For as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so also the Son of Man will be in His day” (Luke. 17:23-24)

“Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be” (Matt. 24:26-27)

The Coming with All the Angels

The Second Coming of Christ will take place in the glory of the Father, with all His saints:

“Thus the LORD my God will come, and all the saints with You” (Zech. 14:5)

“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him” (Matt. 25:31)

“For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels” (Mark. 8:38)

“For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works” (Matt. 16:27)

“Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, ‘Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints’” (Jude. 1:14)

“at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints” (1 Thess. 3:13)

“when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels” (2 Thess. 1:7)

The Coming in the Same Adult Body

Christ will not be born again of people, but will come in the body He already has, received by Him at His birth from the Virgin Mary, the Theotokos, in the 1st year of our era.

“Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, ‘Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven’” (Act. 1:9-11)

The Coming for Judgment

The Lord will come not to teach, but to judge according to the word which He already gave when He came the first time:

“He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him — the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day” (John. 12:48)

“For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works” (Matt. 16:27)

“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. <…> And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life” (Matt. 25:31-33,46)

“which is manifest evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer; since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you, and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Thess. 1:5-8)
