Biography

Born on August 31, 1974, in Kyiv. In 1991, he graduated from high school. In 1994, he graduated from the Mykolaiv Medical College with the qualification of 'paramedic'.

In 1994, he entered the Kaluga Theological School, which, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II on January 20, 1997, was transformed into a theological seminary.

From 1996 — subdeacon to Archbishop Kliment of Kaluga and Borovsk. On April 2, 1998, he was tonsured a monk by Archbishop Kliment and given the name Feodosiy (Theodosius) in honor of St. Theodosius, Hegumen of the Kyiv Caves.

On April 21, 1998, he was ordained a hierodeacon by Archbishop Kliment, and on June 30, 1998 — a hieromonk.

In 1998, he graduated from the Kaluga Theological Seminary.

On July 3, 1998, he was enrolled in the brotherhood of the Nativity of the Theotokos St. Pafnutiy Borovsky Monastery, appointed treasurer of the monastery and editor-in-chief of the weekly publication "Herald of the St. Pafnutiy Borovsky Monastery". In 1999, he was appointed dean of the St. Pafnutiy Borovsky Monastery and a member of the Diocesan Council of the Kaluga Diocese.

In 1999, he entered the Moscow Theological Academy.

On July 3, 2000, he was transferred to serve in the city of Kaluga, appointed secretary of the Diocesan Council of the Kaluga Diocese, head of the office of the Kaluga Diocesan Administration, and rector of the church in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in Kaluga.

On August 23, 2001, upon his request, he was sent to Ukraine. On October 24, 2001, he was appointed rector of the church-chapel in honor of St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk in Kyiv. That same year, upon his request, he transferred from the Moscow Theological Academy to the Kyiv Theological Academy, which he graduated from in 2003.

On November 26, 2007, by decree of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine, he was appointed executive secretary of the Department for Youth Affairs under the Synod of the UOC.

On February 6, 2008, he was appointed deputy chairman of the Department "Mission of Spiritual Enlightenment" under the Synod of the UOC and head of the Sector for Spiritual and Educational Projects of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

On April 28, 2008, he was elevated to the rank of archimandrite.

On May 25, 2010, he was appointed dean for monasteries of the Kyiv Diocese.

At the meeting of the Synod of the UOC on December 23, 2010 (Journal No. 44), he was elected Bishop of Brovary, Vicar of the Kyiv Metropolitanate, with the responsibility of governing the Brovary Vicariate of the Kyiv Diocese (Journal No. 49).

On January 6, 2011, he was consecrated as a bishop in the Refectory Church of the Kyiv Caves Lavra.

By decision of the Synod of the UOC on June 14, 2011 (Journal No. 19), he was appointed chairman of the newly formed Synodal Department of the UOC for Pastoral Care of Internationalist Soldiers.

On March 29, 2013, he was appointed chairman of the candidacy commission of the Kyiv Diocese.

On September 25, 2013, the Synod of the UOC, due to the formation of the Boryspil Diocese, whose ruling bishop was given the title "Boryspil and Brovary", decreed that Bishop Feodosiy should have the title "Boyarsky" (Journal No. 58). He was relieved of his duties as administrator of the Brovary Vicariate of the Kyiv Diocese and appointed to the position of administrator of the Northern Vicariate of the city of Kyiv.

By decision of the Synod of the UOC on September 16, 2014 (Journal No. 56), he was relieved of his duties as chairman of the Synodal Department for Pastoral Care of Internationalist Soldiers (in connection with the liquidation of this structure).

On December 9, 2014, he was appointed chairman of the church court of the Kyiv Diocese.

On July 28, 2017, during the Liturgy at the Kyiv Caves Lavra, he was elevated to the rank of archbishop by His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and All Ukraine.

On November 9, 2019, he was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor of the Kyiv Theological Academy.

By decision of the Synod of the UOC on August 17, 2020, he was appointed ruling hierarch of the Cherkasy Diocese.

On August 17, 2021, during the Liturgy at the Kyiv Caves Lavra, he was elevated to the rank of metropolitan by His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy.

On November 9, 2022, he was awarded the academic title of Professor of the Kyiv Theological Academy.

On April 12, 2023, the Sosnivskyi District Court of Cherkasy sentenced Metropolitan Feodosiy — the hierarch is to be under house arrest for 60 days and wear an electronic bracelet to track his location. The Security Service of Ukraine accused the bishop of "calls for violation of citizens' equality" and also of posting materials from the Russian Orthodox Church on the website of the Cherkasy Diocese, which "promoted the Kremlin regime." On July 24, by decision of the Sosnivskyi District Court of Cherkasy, the term of house arrest was extended for another two months, until September 21.

On October 5, 2023, the bishop was notified of suspicion under Article 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of citizens' equality based on their religious beliefs, committed repeatedly by an official). On October 9, the Kyiv-Sviatoshyn District Court of Kyiv Oblast denied the prosecutor's request to apply detention as a measure of restraint for Metropolitan Feodosiy of Cherkasy and Kaniv. The bishop's house arrest was extended.

On October 9, 2023, a meeting of the UN Human Rights Council took place in Geneva. During the hearing on the report of the UN High Commissioner for Ukraine, Council members listened to a video address by Metropolitan Feodosiy.

On November 2, 2023, the Sosnivskyi District Court of Cherkasy extended the house arrest for another 60 days. On December 20, the court canceled the 24-hour arrest, leaving only nighttime arrest.

On February 23, 2024, the SBU reported that it had served Metropolitan Feodosiy with a "fourth suspicion" under Article 161 (violation of citizens' equality based on their religious beliefs, committed repeatedly by an official). On March 13, as part of the fourth criminal case, a measure of restraint in the form of nighttime house arrest was applied to the bishop until May 13 inclusive. On April 5, during another court hearing, the nighttime house arrest was extended for 60 days.

On August 14, 2024, a hearing in the case of Metropolitan Feodosiy was held in Cherkasy at the Pridneprovsky District Court, where a measure of restraint was selected for the bishop in the fifth criminal case. The bishop is accused under Part 2 of Article 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of citizens' equality based on their religious beliefs). The court sided with the prosecution, and the judge granted the prosecutor's motion: the defendant was placed under nighttime house arrest from 23:00 to 05:00 for 60 days.

On November 29, 2024, the Sosnivskyi District Court of Cherkasy extended the nighttime house arrest for 60 days — until January 27, 2025 — and allowed the electronic bracelet to be removed.

On March 18, 2025, the Sosnivskyi District Court of Cherkasy decided not to extend the measure of restraint in the form of nighttime house arrest.
